| Thinking about it: Everyday we read and
hear about crimes against foreigners in my
country Germany. It seems like the country is
drowning in a brown mud, that endangers
society, friendship, economical ties and
cooperation as well as quality of live.
Why are these
people acting the way they do, many people
including me, ask themselves.
Is it, because
they think fogeigners take their jobs? Well,
only 12,7% (according to the Financial Times
Germany) of people that actually commit those
crimes are without work. They are socially
secure and have more or less tight familiy
ties.
Is it, that
they just hate everything that is not German,
is it pure racism?
Is it, that
they want to be left alone, sick of everyday
reinforced guilt we carry that the world
press reports about and or others that claim
new funds for the damage done to the
countries and the during the war. Do they
have the feeling, that they want to get their
stuff together before being able to care
about others?
Is it pure
stupidity, the lack of goals and visions in a
more and more anonymous wolrd, that make it
possible for political parties like NPD to
recruit those people and make them repeat and
think beyond any rationality and humanity? Do
polical parties or businessman reinforce the
use of violence to get polical attentiom? Do
they think they will be able to move
something in "positive" direction
with these action?
IDoes the
"German honesty" and our culture to
say directly what comes to our mind, often
perceived as harsh and unfriendly, foster the
problems? Or is it a chance?
I think about
it eveyday. I spent my time with people from
other countries and listen to them. They are
frightened, they are shocked. And a lot of
them are getting ready to leave Germany.
Their mayor concern is not, what I thought,
that they will be attacked or threatened by
Neonazis, their fear is, that their cry for
help will be unheard! They think and
experienced us Germans sitting next to it and
watching , turning away, closing eyes and
ears and be passive! They say, there is more
wrong about Germany then braindead leftovers
from old ideologies, people don't help each
other here.
